Can you use Hypnosis online? You can imagine I have been asked this quite a few times in recent months. So I thought I would ask my two professional organisations, the GHSC/GHR and the BSCH, is there an ‘official’ view?

#UPDATE# Survey results now in at: https://abetterlife-uk.com/on-line-hypnosis-does-it-work

Certainly they acknowledge working remotely / on-line, and they provide guidance for good practice. However, there is no ‘official’ data or research on what impact this may have one way or the other. So I suggested running a simple survey of member hypnotherapists, which they agreed was a good idea. Watch this space on that!

My own experience is that it’s perfectly good, as long as you set things up right (and that always applies). There is no technical difference whether we’re both present together face to face or not. There are certain hypnosis inductions that I can’t use, which involve touch, but there so many to choose from for a well-trained hypnotherapist that this should be no major obstacle. (Indeed two of my colleagues are undergoing training in hypnosis online).

Listening to the news today, it seems that Covid 19 worries are not about to go away anytime soon, either, whatever you or I may personally believe about the risks. So for the foreseeable future, I will be continuing with on-line consultations work via Zoom or Skype.

If you’re wondering whether hypnosis is for you, or you’d like to know more about how I work, read more in my posts Hypnotherapy – is it for me? and Hypnosis Consultation.
